About the Role
Join a new team focused on building systems to ingest, process, and serve massive volumes of client and internal event data. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the architecture of a critical data domain using modern streaming technologies, analytical databases, Elixir, and Python to handle billions of events. You will define event data flow for speed, reliability, and availability across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain event streaming pipelines for data ingestion from various sources.
- Develop and operate analytical databases and data models for high-volume event data.
- Write production Elixir and Python services for event processing, transformation, and routing.
- Integrate legacy event pipelines with modern streaming infrastructure.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling for event data systems.
- Define and enforce event schemas, data contracts, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with other teams to understand data needs and deliver event data products.
- Participate in system design reviews and establish best practices.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Elixir and/or Python for application connectors, data services, and pipeline components.
- Advanced SQL skills for data modeling, query optimization, and analytical workloads.
- Hands-on experience with columnar/OLAP databases at production scale.
- Experience with stream processing frameworks and message brokers (e.g., Apache Flink, Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis).
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and migrate systems, bridging legacy and modern architectures.
- Proven track record of operationalizing data pipelines, including monitoring and alerting.
- Experience designing and operating data systems on AWS.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, comfortable leading design discussions and writing technical specs.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with retail events data (e.g., clickstream, purchase events) is a plus.
- Experience with Databricks, Flink, and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis) is a plus.
