About the Role

The Insurance Customer Service Representative is the agency's front-line contact with the public, responsible for representing the agency professionally and friendly. This role acts as a receptionist, accepts payments, and provides customer service and support to Licensed Producers, with potential options for insurance sales/producer roles.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally.
  • Communicate with callers in a professional, friendly, and efficient manner.
  • Take thorough messages, including caller's name, company, time, and message content.
  • Communicate messages to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Receive and accurately record payments (cash, check, credit card) and process with the respective carrier.
  • Make change, accept payments, and issue receipts to customers.
  • Refer customers with additional questions to the appropriate team member.
  • Handle customer complaints with poise and integrity, referring to the appropriate manager when necessary.
  • Prepare outgoing mail for postal service delivery.
  • Pick up, time stamp, and distribute mail.
  • Perform clerical duties such as typing and filing.
  • Support and endorse agency policies and procedures.
  • Follow up with customers after car sales to offer insurance quotations and gather necessary information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED).
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Work is performed in an office setting.
  • Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.
  • Awareness of hazards such as slips, trips, falls, ergonomic injuries, and occasional lifting.
  • Adherence to safety precautions including breaks for stretching and training on safe practices.
