About the Role
Buffalo Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking a reliable and hardworking Medical Assistant for its busy Surgical Ophthalmology Department. This role involves patient transport, assisting clinical staff, and maintaining cleanliness of care areas.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients within and out of the ambulatory surgery center.
- Assist clinical staff in the delivery of patient care.
- Maintain cleanliness of care areas.
- Orient to all care areas and to the Health Information department.
- Assist with turning over stretchers and chairs as needed.
- Know location of equipment and supplies.
- Perform clinical/patient care duties as assigned by RN.
- Stock supplies for care.
- Keep caps, masks, and shoe covers stocked as needed.
- Assist patients with urinals, bedpans, and emesis basins.
- Keep patient nutrition station clean.
- Keep hallway free of clutter.
- Check/empty sharps containers in care areas if directed.
- Assist with chart breakdown and filing.
- Track loose reports and files.
- Perform other Health Information duties as assigned.
- Handle difficult patients and/or situations respectfully.
- Take pride in providing patients with a positive experience.
- Assist in the admission of patients to pre/postoperative area according to established guidelines.
- Observe safety measures in patient-care areas.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant Degree (AAS)
- Medical Assistant Certification (Preferred)
- BLS (Preferred)
