About the Role
The Director of Housing Services provides leadership and direction for ECS’s supportive housing programs for formerly homeless individuals and families. This is a fully onsite, client-facing role requiring in-person interaction and direct service delivery. The Director collaborates with various departments to ensure effective service delivery, funding, and financial management, serving as a member of the senior management team and representing ECS to external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and administers ECS’s Housing Services, ensuring housing retention, client self-sufficiency, and community development.
- Fosters innovation, best practices, cooperation, and service integration among staff and partners.
- Develops, negotiates, and manages public and private partnerships for housing and services.
- Maintains efficient client data and reporting systems.
- Facilitates effective service delivery through quality assurance and program evaluation systems.
- Hires, trains, supports, supervises, evaluates, and dismisses program staff.
- Provides direct supervision to Associate Directors and the Clinical Services Manager.
- Supports Housing Services staff by ensuring a positive work environment and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborates with the Director of Behavioral Health to support staff in delivering services to clients with behavioral health needs.
- Works closely with the Director of Housing Development and Asset Management to ensure safe and well-managed housing facilities.
- Advises the Executive Director and Board of Directors on supportive housing concerns.
- Assumes leadership of new Housing Services initiatives.
- Participates in director and management staff meetings to promote collaboration and service integration.
- Represents ECS to community organizations, networks, and coalitions to foster positive relationships and influence housing policy.
- Develops Housing Services budgets in collaboration with the CFO and finance staff.
- Assumes lead responsibility for housing-related fund development, including researching and writing proposals, and negotiating and reporting grants and contracts.
- Maintains productive working relationships with key private and public funders.
- Ensures full compliance with contracts and regulatory agreements.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least five years of progressive experience in human services administration.
- Experience in supportive housing and/or service delivery for homeless and other very low-income families and individuals.
- Strong working knowledge of the physical and behavioral health needs of ECS’s client population.
- Knowledge of and commitment to harm reduction practices.
- Working knowledge of housing and homeless services funding sources, both public and private.
- Commitment to ECS’s mission and organizational values.
- Ability to maintain focus on organizational vision while attending to details.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Collaborative work style, initiative, and flexibility.
- Ability to influence, mediate, and negotiate.

- Computer proficiency.
- Must secure and pass finger image screening, a thorough background check, and annual TB screenings.
