About the Role

The Associate Director of Experiential Education and Career Development serves as a career specialist and team leader on the NYC campus. This role designs and delivers high-impact programming, cultivates employer relationships, and leverages labor market data and AI-enabled tools to provide students with a competitive edge. The Associate Director supervises and develops the Assistant Director of Career Education, acting as a coach and thought partner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized career advising and coaching to students pursuing internships and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Supervise and develop the Assistant Director of Career Education, providing coaching and guidance.
  • Design, deliver, and improve career programming covering exploration, networking, interview preparation, and negotiation.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with employer partners to generate internship and full-time opportunities.
  • Monitor labor market trends and synthesize intelligence into programming, advising content, and student resources.
  • Oversee the administration of internship and experiential programs, including database management and assessment processes.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in career services or a related field.
  • Demonstrated people management skills.
  • Strong employer engagement instincts.
  • Sophisticated understanding of evolving labor market dynamics.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of progressive experience in career services, recruiting, workforce development, or industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current hiring practices and emerging roles.
  • Experience advising students or early-career professionals.
  • Ability to translate complex industry dynamics into accessible guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing others, including coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Ability to build and sustain employer relationships.
  • Proficiency with career management platforms (e.g., Handshake).
  • Proficiency with labor market intelligence tools (e.g., Lightcast, LinkedIn Talent Insights).
  • Proficiency with AI-enabled career development tools.
  • Data fluency: ability to interpret employment outcome data, labor market trends, and program metrics.
  • Strong presentation, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with students across varying levels of experience.
  • Collaborative orientation and ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive advising practice.
