About the Role

This role is accountable for the management and safe execution of engineering projects, assisting in the preparation of engineering tender responses, and providing engineering technical services and applications support for power generation related products. This role may or may not have direct reports and interfaces with Sales, Service, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Product Managers, Suppliers, and Customers.

Responsibilities

  • Execute overall project management.
  • Review project technical scope, budget, delivery requirements and assess feasibility.
  • Ensure technical compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Develop design in liaison with customer, consultant and other subcontractors to meet project specifications.
  • Ensure project outputs meet customer needs.
  • Attend project site when required.
  • Manage projects to be on-budget against an ‘as ordered’ PMU.
  • Manage projects to be delivered in full, on time.
  • Report weekly the status of all projects, including cost, payment milestones, delivery, or technical issues.
  • Conduct project close out reviews to review success and document lessons learned.
  • Attend or host meetings with clients, suppliers, or subcontractors in support of project completion.
  • Interpret technical project specifications.
  • Write technical and commercial exceptions to specifications protecting CAPS and the customer.
  • Select appropriate equipment and customisations to meet specifications and site conditions.
  • Conduct basic preliminary design to support accurate costings and information for customers.
  • Estimate final costs for OEM equipment and customisations to specifications.
  • Follow the standard process for engineering tender response generation.
  • Support sales with technical assistance in post-submission TQs, meetings, and presentations.
  • Assist the sales team in reviewing tenders and other forms of RFQ when required.
  • Communicate with Finance regarding applicable CAPS commercial conditions.
  • Communicate with Sales when tender or RFQ submission dates cannot be met.
  • Execute engineering design for technical aspects of customisations and modifications to Product within qualifications and experience level.
  • Select components and equipment.
  • Conduct competent electrical and/or mechanical design (where applicable).
  • Provide technical documentation and drawings.
  • Provide quality plans, ITPs, test & commissioning procedures, project schedule, and other miscellaneous documentation.
  • Work with Engineering Services for cost-efficient documentation generation and document control.
  • Communicate with OEMs to monitor delivery and configuration of equipment to ensure they meet specifications and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure modifications are fit-for-purpose and costed appropriately to optimize profit margins.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and test engineering project related equipment, materials, and works completed by OEM manufacturers, suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturing/service departments to ensure project specified output performance, quality requirements, and applicable Australian standards are met.
  • Ensure accurate timesheets are kept updated weekly.
  • Conduct other reasonable engineering and business-related duties, within capacity and qualifications, as assigned by manager.
  • Work efficiently and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Complete all assigned training requirements.
  • Operate within assigned limits under the CAPS Authority Matrix for expenditure and quotations.
