About the Role

Hitachi Energy's Grid Automation business unit offers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for the energy system, supporting key segments like generation, transmission, distribution, industries, transportation, and infrastructure. Responsibilities

  • Design high voltage protection and control systems, including schematic creation, technical document review, protection relay configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support for substation primary equipment and protection systems, leveraging knowledge of power systems, substations, and MV/HV switchgear.
  • Support the design, implementation, and operation of substation automation systems, RTUs, PLCs, and gateways.
  • Create and manage design documents such as substation layouts, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and termination charts using e-CAD or equivalent tools.
  • Promote Hitachi Energy's processes and policies, contributing to the development of standard processes and work instructions by adopting internal and industry best practices.
  • Analyze lessons learned from project execution and incorporate them into continuous improvement actions to enhance quality, efficiency, and processes.
  • Promote and enforce a safe working environment by implementing HSE measures, adhering to ethics and compliance guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Embody Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions and contributing to team and business success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of practical experience in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with protection relays and protection control systems is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage customer comments and approval processes.
  • Ability to support project managers in project engineering tasks.
  • Native or business-level Japanese language proficiency.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is desirable.
