About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of strategy and business planning for interest rate derivatives across Oceania, collaborating closely with executive leadership to achieve both financial and non-financial targets.
  • Lead and inspire a Sydney-based team of professionals, focusing on mentoring, development, and delivering outstanding customer experiences for a broad range of corporate and institutional clients.
  • Promote the sale of interest rate derivative products to existing and new corporate and institutional clients by actively engaging in the Oceania market.
  • Acquire new customers through effective networking, relationship building, and partnership development across multiple client segments.
  • Manage and lead a team of interest rate professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster individual growth and collective success.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day contact for internal stakeholders, coordinating activities among team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to set strategy and develop business plans that meet financial targets and drive sustainable growth.
  • Build strong long-term relationships with clients at senior management level by delivering value-added solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department, championing change both within immediate areas of responsibility and across wider business functions as needed.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on interest rate derivatives to internal Relationship Managers and Product Offices while building trust throughout the organisation.
  • Deliver superior customer experiences by developing innovative solutions across Corporate & Institutional Banking, Japanese Corporate Banking, Leverage Finance, Project Finance, and other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and laws while managing conflicts of interest under dual-hat responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate significant expertise in interest rate derivatives with proven experience structuring complex hedging solutions for corporate or institutional clients.
  • Show established client relationships across a broad customer base within the financial sector.
  • Exhibit strong technical ability in pricing and structuring increasingly sophisticated derivative products while sharing this knowledge with junior staff members.
  • Possess more than ten years’ experience in corporate or institutional interest rate roles with a track record of delivering revenue targets.
  • Display superior communication skills that enable you to build trust with internal stakeholders and external clients alike.
  • Bring advanced organisational skills for managing multiple priorities including team leadership, business planning, compliance oversight, and customer engagement.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by responding effectively to changing market conditions while maintaining focus on achieving monetary targets.
  • Show commitment to mentoring team members through individual development plans that align aspirations with departmental goals.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy in all aspects of product knowledge, negotiation skills, presentation skills, credit management, financial analysis, sales processes, technology skills, transaction processing.
