About the Role
STARK is developing Minerva Frontline, a Command & Control (C2) Software, to enable mission planning and operations of Aerial and Maritime asset swarms in real-world conditions. This role involves building the high-performance, low-latency engine at the heart of the software, focusing on core server-side architecture for NATO's Armed Forces.
Responsibilities
- Develop core C++ services that orchestrate UAV and USV swarms, maintaining a synchronized and robust battlefield state across distributed systems.
- Design and implement high-performance gRPC and REST APIs connecting the C2 interface to autonomous vehicles.
- Build and optimize telemetry pipelines for high-frequency data handling and low-latency synchronization.
- Expand C++ architecture to support scaling from 4 to 20+ vehicles simultaneously.
- Implement military standards and protocols (e.g., STANAG) for interoperability and battle-readiness.
- Build and maintain test suites to ensure reliable code performance under contested conditions.
- Write clean, performant Modern C++ (17/20/23), understanding allocation costs and deterministic system value.
- Think in terms of data flows, state machines, and concurrency, recognizing that 'late data is wrong data'.
- Dive deep into details to solve technical problems at the hardware-software boundary.
- Drive architecture forward without waiting for perfect specifications, understanding the mission.
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team with frontend, robotics, and integration engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend or systems engineering, with a primary focus on high-performance C++ applications.
- Deep proficiency in Modern C++ (17 or later).
- Strong understanding of asynchronous networking, inter-process communication (IPC), and real-time data streaming.
- Relevant experience in Aerospace, Robotics, Automotive, Sensors, or High-Frequency Trading.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for this position.
