About the Role
This role is for a Junior Print Designer to join Renfold, ideal for an Assistant Print Designer ready for the next step or a Junior Print Designer seeking broader experience in a multi-brand environment. You will curate commercially relevant ranges and develop original print across fashion, home, and accessories for multi-gender, off-price brands. The position supports the growth of emerging fashion brands by balancing trend, newness, and commercial awareness.
Responsibilities
- Conduct ongoing trend, competitor, and market research to inform seasonal print direction and maintain commercial relevance.
- Create clear visual presentations and confidently share ideas with the design team and senior stakeholders.
- Create original, commercially relevant prints using hand-drawn, painted, and digital techniques.
- Develop seamless repeats, placements, engineered prints, and colourways appropriate to the product, customer, and price point.
- Curate cohesive, seasonally appropriate ranges that balance trend, newness, customer needs, and proven commercial print handwriting.
- Identify and prioritise key print directions and commercial print stories that will drive the seasonal assortment.
- Prepare accurate artwork, CADs, colourways, specifications, and print information for sampling and production.
- Support strike-off, lab-dip, and sample approvals, ensuring colour, scale, and design intent are maintained.
- Partner closely with commercial, design, and buying colleagues to align print and design decisions with customer, cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Produce print and shape tech packs, assist in fit and sample review sessions, and maintain organised artwork and print libraries.
- Support approvals and prepare for customer and internal meetings.
- Communicate effectively with global factories and suppliers, responding promptly to queries and supporting the resolution of technical or production issues.
- Apply a practical understanding of fabrications, print techniques, and production limitations.
- Support the selection of options that meet sustainability, quality, and price requirements while driving newness.
- Manage allocated briefs and approvals against the critical path, maintain accurate trackers and files, and communicate progress, risks, and changes clearly.
- Report to the Senior Designer and work as part of a small, growing team.
Requirements
- An established Assistant Print Designer ready to step into a Junior role, or experience at Junior Print Designer level.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating original print development, hand-drawing and painting techniques, digital design, repeat patterns, colourways, and commercial application.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, with confident CAD skills and the ability to work accurately at pace.
- Experience creating seamless repeats and preparing production-ready print artwork and specifications.
- A good understanding of colour, scale, placement, Pantone references, print techniques, and how artwork translates across different products and fabrications.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how brand identity and customer needs inform print and range decisions.
- Good knowledge of brand identity and experience working across multiple brands at the same time.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple briefs, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication and collaborative working skills, including confidence presenting ideas and communicating with suppliers.
- A proactive, resourceful approach and willingness to contribute across creative, technical, and administrative tasks.
- Experience within off-price retail or a fast-paced supplier, retailer, or multi-brand environment would be advantageous.
- Experience working across fashion, experience in home and/or accessories would be advantageous.
- Experience communicating with overseas factories and reviewing strike-offs, lab dips, and production samples would be advantageous.
