Responsibilities
- Perform conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling.
- Review data models with IT and business stakeholders, explaining how models meet requirements, information architecture, strategy, and identifying deficiencies.
- Utilize UML modelling, including class, activity, sequence, component, and package diagrams.
- Analyze and translate current application and data landscapes, along with future business requirements, into detailed logical data models.
- Manage metadata (technical and business) and integrate metadata practices into all modelling activities.
- Analyze source systems, including database structures, semi-structured, and unstructured data stores.
- Assess source system schemas, including table structures, relationships, primary/foreign keys, and indexing.
- Determine reference data domains, ranges, and their relationship to transactional data.
- Map source data elements to target models and data schemas using detailed logical data models.
- Collaborate with source system SMEs to determine correct mappings, transformations, and identify gaps.
- Analyze and document source-to-target data lineage.
- Conduct detailed analysis of source system data structures and content to assess "fitness for purpose".
Requirements
- Experience in data analysis and modelling against transactional and analytical systems.
- Experience in using data modelling tools and managing data modelling repositories and solutions.
- Experience in data profiling using automated tools and hand-coded SQL to determine data quality metrics and constraints.
- Experience in delivering large-scale information management, information governance, and analytics solutions.
- At least 5 years of data modelling and analysis experience.
- Business communication skills.
- Working knowledge of large enterprise relational database management systems, including traditional databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle) and cloud-based platforms and solutions within AWS.
- Working knowledge of data governance frameworks, processes, and technologies such as data catalogues and business glossaries.
- 10+ years of work experience with domain expertise.
