About the Role

This position serves as part of the Council's Office of Child Development team, monitoring program compliance and implementing the Council's research-based coaching plan. The School Readiness Coach is committed to providing exceptional education opportunities to students in Head Start programs, focusing on CLASS Instructional Strategies and implementing Practice-Based Coaching with teaching staff. The role provides hands-on guidance and instruction to improve student assessment data, achieve excellence in CLASS assessment, and ensure school readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and ensures program compliance.
  • Implements the Council's research-based coaching plan.
  • Provides exceptional education opportunities to students in Head Start programs.
  • Implements CLASS Instructional Strategies.
  • Implements Practice-Based Coaching strategies with teaching staff.
  • Provides hands-on guidance and teaching instruction through high-quality interactions.
  • Improves child assessment data outcomes.
  • Reaches and maintains a level of excellence in the CLASS assessment.
  • Ensures students are identified as school-ready upon exiting the program.
  • Provides training and technical assistance on child development best practices.
  • Provides ongoing professional development for staff and volunteers in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, state and local or other requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) in early childhood education or child development and/or teaching certification in IECE.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in early childhood education.
  • Knowledge of Kentucky licensing regulations.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Knowledge of KY ALL STARS.
  • Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation.
  • Ability to operate technology efficiently.
  • Ability to aggregate data.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to manipulate the Council's internal database.
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current child development practices and research-based early childhood quality methods and approaches.
  • Understanding of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education.
  • Ability to support the use of developmentally appropriate practice in school readiness goals.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead others to a higher level of service delivery.
