About the Role

The Director of Community Services is responsible for the overall operations and delivery of high-quality behavioral health care and case management services to adults with mental illness in the Schenectady community. This role also involves developing designated programs to support individuals and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor program performance and maintain regular contact through supervision, meetings, record reviews, and communication.
  • Provide consultation and support to program supervisors for operational, staffing, clinical, and service issues.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to the Care Coordination program.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a respectful, strength-based, person-centered, and culturally responsive manner.
  • Support individuals in identifying and addressing their needs, strengths, goals, and opportunities for independence.
  • Monitor admission and discharge processes for timeliness, appropriateness, and person-centered consistency.
  • Monitor utilization and service capacity, making recommendations for program needs and resources.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Community Services on new program initiatives and services.
  • Participate in policy and procedure development and review.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of program documentation, electronic records, billing, and reports.
  • Oversee staff recruitment, selection, onboarding, supervision, development, and performance evaluation.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of annual program operating budgets and expenditures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of funding-related documentation and reports.
  • Represent the agency with service providers, community organizations, governmental agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Safely and reasonably access all levels of assigned facilities, which may be multi-level and accessible by stairs only.
  • Conduct community-based services, potentially visiting individuals’ apartments on upper floors.
  • Provide transportation to individuals served using agency vehicles when necessary.
  • Maintain access to a personal vehicle and use it for authorized business purposes, including meetings and community services.

Requirements

  • New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and database applications.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and manage responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
  • Valid and insurable New York State driver's license.
  • Eligibility to become an approved agency driver.
  • Access to a reliable personal vehicle and willingness to use it for authorized agency business purposes.
  • Successful completion of background checks is required for all offers of employment.
