About the Role

The Manager, Leave and Accommodation Program will play a key role in developing, formalizing, and managing Aviso's leave, disability management, workplace accommodation, and return-to-work programs. This is an opportunity to shape a critical area of the employee experience by establishing frameworks, governance, workflows, monitoring, and reporting, while ensuring daily program administration is rigorous, consistent, and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the continuous evolution of the leave and accommodation program, seeking opportunities to modernize processes, enhance the employee experience, strengthen governance, and align practices with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the intake of requests, coordination of files, documentation, and resolution of complex leave, disability, and accommodation cases, including return-to-work planning and implementation of appropriate workplace accommodations.
  • Provide specialist advice to managers, HR, and employees on leave entitlements, accommodation requirements, and compliance obligations.
  • Provide guidance and administer all legislated leaves, ensuring employees and managers receive clear direction and that leave processes are managed consistently and in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure consistent, compliant, and effective program delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, legislation, human rights, disability, privacy, and occupational health and safety requirements, while mitigating risk to the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate effective case management and resolve escalations.
  • Monitor program activities, trends, and outcomes, including taking ownership of tracking program metrics and preparing regular reports to support service delivery, strengthen governance, and enhance the employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Health Disability Management, or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Advisor (CHRA), Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), or related designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of seven years of relevant HR experience, with three to five years in leaves, disability management, or workplace accommodation.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable employment legislation, human rights obligations, disability management principles, privacy requirements, and return-to-work practices.
  • Experience managing complex employee cases, with exceptional organizational skills and risk awareness.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving business needs, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, sound judgment, and strict adherence to legal and privacy requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop policies, processes, and program frameworks within a regulated or complex organizational environment.
  • Proficiency in English for effective communication with partners, clients, and colleagues across Canada; French proficiency is an asset.
