About the Role
Handles a wide variety of claims, initially focusing on Automobile and General Liability, with minimal supervision. Reviews reports to determine coverage and assess damages, aiming for expeditious and economical settlements. Acts as a technical expert and supports client management activities.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle losses to determine coverage and claim disposition.
- Establish and regularly review appropriate reserves for indemnity and expense, making recommendations for claims outside of authority.
- Identify and communicate claim trends, account, or policy issues to management, underwriting, and risk services.
- Prepare comprehensive reports as required.
- Pro-actively manage the case-resolution process.
- Actively participate in market meetings, mediations, arbitrations, and negotiation discussions within settlement authority.
- Manage the litigation process through the retention of counsel, adhering to litigation guidelines.
- Support claims marketing services by meeting with brokers, risk managers, and reinsurers.
- Prepare for and facilitate claim reviews with clients.
- Provide oversight to claims managed by Independent Adjusters to ensure quality standards.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of related claims experience, including auto and/or general liability claims.
- Experience with cargo and/or commercial transportation claims, such as long-haul trucking, is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated superior verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficiency in Punjabi is considered an asset.
- Intermediate level of analytical, decision making, and negotiation skills.
- A valid Ontario Adjuster's License is considered a strong asset.
- Candidates with a completed CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation or those actively pursuing the CIP will be given preference.
- Litigation experience is considered a strong asset.
- Functional knowledge of law and insurance is considered an asset.
- Approximate travel required 10-15%.
