About the Role

The Teacher Aide assists the Master Teacher and Teacher Assistant in implementing age-appropriate activities for 18 preschool children. This role supports classroom preparation, cleanup, mealtimes, and ensures the safety of children while contributing to daily classroom operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Master Teacher and Teacher Assistant in implementing age-appropriate activities for 18 preschool children
  • Assisting with mealtimes
  • Participating in classroom preparation and cleanup
  • Ensuring the safety of the children
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations within the classroom

Requirements

  • Experience working in an early childhood setting preferred
  • Ability to observe and record behaviors of children
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of program and agency related information
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and cooperate with all Pre-K staff to provide quality programming for children and families
  • Ability to be non-judgmental in working with families
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, bending or kneeling to child's eye level, and lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and visual skills required
  • Auditory and verbal skills required for communication with clients, staff and the public
  • Employment is conditional pending satisfactory medical exam and TB test
  • Fingerprint clearance from the NYS Education Department at the time of hire
  • Employee will be required to sign an affidavit annually stating they have not been indicated in a child abuse or neglect case within the past year
  • Must adhere to Substance-Free workplace policy
  • Will be subject to random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing

Skills

  • Knowledge of child development
  • Ability to work and interact with young children
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient computer skills

Education Level

  • High School/GED diploma with a plan to complete preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education within 2 years of hire
