About the Role
SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University's Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a General Anesthesiologist to join their academic faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia in the main operating room, ambulatory surgery center, and obstetrical suite, utilizing general, regional, and sedation techniques.
- Provide anesthesia care for general surgery, orthopedics, vascular, robotics (general surgery, GU, GYN), and renal transplant cases.
- Supervise residents in a 2-OR care team model during daytime clinical assignments.
- Participate in obstetric anesthesia coverage with resident support.
- Participate in clinical teaching and supervision of residents and medical students.
- Provide classroom instruction and evaluate residents and students.
- Mentor trainees in research and scholarly activities.
- Contribute to departmental administrative responsibilities.
- Participate in call responsibilities, including main OR and obstetrical suite coverage with resident support.
- Respond to occasional urgent or emergent cases during call.
Requirements
- Must be a General Anesthesiologist.
- Must be able to supervise residents.
- Must be able to participate in obstetric anesthesia coverage.
- Must be able to provide clinical teaching and supervision.
- Must be able to provide classroom instruction and evaluation.
- Must be able to mentor trainees in research and scholarly activities.
- Must be able to contribute to departmental administrative responsibilities.
- Must be able to participate in call responsibilities.
- No trauma, cardiac, or neuro anesthesia required.
