About the Role

Apogem Capital is a leading private markets solutions provider with approximately $44 billion in assets under management. We partner with institutional investors to deliver disciplined underwriting, strategic capital deployment, and long-term value creation. Apogem Capital operates within the New York Life Investment Management platform.

Responsibilities

  • Review industry news daily and enter new investments into proprietary database
  • Own database management, including generation of team’s pipeline and forward calendar
  • Perform industry and strategy market mapping
  • Attend prospective manager meetings and calls, generating meeting notes and quick screen evaluations
  • Present investment evaluation findings in weekly team meetings
  • Attend industry conferences
  • Support deal team in assessment of investment opportunities
  • Support senior investment professionals in diligence documentation
  • Attend investment committee meetings and own documentation of commitments and approvals
  • Opportunity to increasingly lead aspects of investment diligence, including creation/drafting of investment memos and quantitative analysis
  • Complete post-closing documentation for new investments
  • Monitor investments on a regular basis, capturing relevant data
  • Track capital call and distribution activity and forecasts
  • Monitor investment performance and track AGM and LPAC participation
  • Support marketing and other various requests from existing and prospective investors
  • Support client service in development of existing and prospective investor communications
  • Support special project work as needed
  • Collaborate with other Apogem investment teams to develop best practices and share diligence findings
  • Integrate AI into workflows

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree; preference for majors in finance, economics, business, or accounting
  • 1+ year of full-time experience in investment banking, investment management, or a similar industry role
  • Demonstrated interest in and intellectual curiosity about the investment management industry
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to gather, organize, and analyze data effectively
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to take initiative
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills; must be able to prioritize, but also multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented culture and maintain open communication with team members

Skills

  • Mastery of Excel, PowerPoint, and AI tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
