About the Role
You are a hands-on Engineering Manager who combines strong programming skills with leadership. You actively contribute to our product, but primarily take responsibility for processes, team coordination, and the interface between Engineering and Management.
Responsibilities
- Act as a central interface between the Engineering team and Management, translating business requirements into actionable technical plans and reporting progress and risks.
- Ensure decisions are made, communicated, and implemented clearly.
- Collaborate closely with the Director People & Leadership on team building, performance, and development.
- Represent the Engineering team in cross-functional meetings with Product, Commercial, Legal, and Management.
- Coordinate collaboration with external stakeholders on strategic and technical topics.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and ensure individual development.
- Work closely with Product colleagues to understand product requirements, challenge them when necessary, and ensure Engineering and Product are aligned.
- Help continuously improve development processes (sprint planning, release coordination, incident response).
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, ideally with Python, or equivalent experience as a Senior Developer willing to learn Python.
- Experience in functional or disciplinary leadership of development teams, including regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and team management.
- Solid understanding of backend architectures, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
- Understanding of business contexts and ability to translate them into clear priorities and guidelines for the team.
- Clear, structured, and confident communication skills, able to articulate complex issues understandably to both developers and management.
- Independent, reliable, and quality-conscious work ethic.
- Fluent in German and English.
