About the Role
As a Cook Assistant, you will work alongside our culinary team to prepare wholesome, nutritious, and appetizing meals while learning the daily operations of a high-volume food service environment. You'll help ensure food quality, food safety, and excellent customer service while supporting our mission of helping students succeed. This is an On-Call position with flexible scheduling based on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and service of daily meals.
- Ensure serving lines are properly prepared before each meal service.
- Assist in preparing wholesome, nutritious, and appealing meals.
- Monitor food temperatures throughout meal service to ensure food safety compliance.
- Maintain proper food handling and sanitation standards.
- Assist with inventory management and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishing.
- Help prepare weekly and monthly food service reports.
- Maintain daily records of food costs and food usage.
- Assist with kitchen organization, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.
- Work collaboratively with the Food Services team to provide excellent service to students and staff.
- Follow all health department, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two years of experience in a cafeteria, restaurant, commercial kitchen, healthcare food service, school cafeteria, or related food service environment preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
