About the Role
Mott MacDonald's Toronto office is seeking a BIM Lead to manage BIM execution and digital delivery for a significant infrastructure project. This role involves leading model coordination, setting BIM standards, and ensuring high-quality digital deliverables, with the opportunity to influence national BIM practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead BIM execution and digital delivery activities on major transportation and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, client standards, and industry best practices.
- Manage the production, coordination, and quality assurance of BIM models, drawings, and digital deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and discipline leads to define project-specific BIM requirements, resolve design and coordination issues, and support successful project delivery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary model integration, clash detection, and digital workflows to improve project efficiency and reduce delivery risks.
- Review models, drawings, and submission packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Work with Digital Delivery leaders across Canada to align project delivery approaches, share best practices, and coordinate resources on national initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to BIM and CAD team members, supporting capability development, training, and adherence to company standards.
- Develop and implement BIM execution plans, digital delivery workflows, and standards aligned with ISO 19650 and project-specific requirements.
- Monitor project workloads and resource allocation to ensure teams are effectively utilized and deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Drive continuous improvement in digital delivery processes, tools, and project execution methods to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Support project pursuits and business development activities by contributing technical expertise to proposals, presentations, and client discussions.
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative digital delivery team focused on excellence, innovation, and successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- 10 - 15 years of experience working with Autodesk software across a range of BIM and CAD methodologies.
- Linear infrastructure experience with a focus on the transportation sector.
- Experience with leading and mentoring a team.
- Familiarity with writing, editing, and working with BIM Execution Plans.
- Strong leadership skills; capable of enabling the work of a diverse team of BIM and CAD specialists.
- Ability to organize, delegate, and oversee a team of BIM and CAD specialists to complete a project from start to finish.
- Ability to understand the scope and limits of responsibility between various engineering disciplines and project support groups.
- Positive ‘can-do’ attitude in working with colleagues and clients.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork & problem-solving skills in complex and changing environments.
- Advanced understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit, Navisworks.
- An advanced understanding of MicroStation, Open Roads, and Open Buildings would be an asset.
- Understanding Grasshopper and or working knowledge of Dynamo would be an asset.
- Capable of supervising technical details in area(s) of specialty.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable BIM/CAD standards and practice in transportation & infrastructure.
- An associate's degree in engineering technology (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) and CET designation would be an asset.
