About the Role

The Husbandry Attendant will provide the daily care of laboratory animals at Rockefeller University, adhering to established policies and procedures. This role supports the Comparative Bioscience Center's mission of providing high-level research support while ensuring animal welfare.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cage changing, general animal care, and monitor/report animal health.
  • Maintain and report on facility equipment.
  • Clean assigned rooms and perform animal receiving procedures.
  • Maintain consumable supplies (food, water, bedding) in assigned rooms.
  • Manage animal room records and notify appropriate personnel of irregularities in animal health and environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to push/pull carts weighing approximately 500 lbs.
  • Ability to lift supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to tolerate significant standing, bending, and walking.
  • Must not be allergic to animals, waste products, or bedding.

Skills

  • ALAT certification preferred
