About the Role

The Senior Manager plays an important role in driving key stakeholder information within Rogers. The successful candidate will leverage strong technical accounting, data management and communication skills to ensure accuracy and timeliness of Legal Entity reporting and IFRS16 accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely company wide Real Estate and Lease accounting, reporting and analysis, including reporting under IFRS16
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting process to translate rent expense into IFRS16 income statement and balance sheet impacts
  • Manage key vendor relationships for external service providers associated with real estate portfolio
  • Provide support to CRE Business Managers, assisting with data analysis and investigation
  • Assist with the financial accounting and financial reporting cycle for Telecom (Wireless, Residential and Rogers Business) as part of Consolidated reporting packages
  • Review variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement on a monthly basis
  • Preparation of regulatory and statutory reporting for Wireless and Cable
  • Review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and investigate/resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Assist the external auditors with their quarterly reviews and year-end audits
  • Ensure all internal controls and SOX controls are effective and operational
  • Develop an environment of continuous process and control improvement
  • Lead a team of 3 direct reports and support ATO program
  • Ad hoc projects or special analysis as required

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience
  • University Degree and accounting designation (CPA)
  • Ability to independently manage and organize multiple work activities and inputs in order to meet or exceed established deadlines and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Pre-existing knowledge of Oracle and Essbase would be an asset, with desire to become a super user for these tools over time
  • Ability to build strong relationships within finance organization
  • Ability to drive change to enhance processes and improve deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ease with communicating with various levels in the organization (including senior management)
