About the Role
As Vice President of Information Technology, you will lead a talented team of IT professionals, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. You will define and execute an enterprise-wide technology vision that accelerates growth, strengthens operational excellence, and advances our vision across Canada. This is a transformational leadership position where you will position technology as a competitive advantage by modernizing core systems, harnessing the power of data and artificial intelligence, and constructing a secure, scalable digital foundation.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for the IT department through a team of IT Directors, Managers and Project Managers.
- Develop and execute the organization’s IT strategy aligned with business priorities, with a focus on applications and the impact of AI.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and senior management to assess business needs, shape technology roadmaps, and deliver cost-effective technology solutions.
- Oversee the organization’s application portfolio, ensuring systems are integrated, scalable and align with current and future business requirements.
- Lead technology modernization initiatives by rationalizing legacy applications, reducing system duplication, improving interoperability, and simplifying the technology landscape.
- Establish multi-year technology investment plans, application lifecycle strategies, and business capability roadmaps that align technology investments with organizational priorities.
- Partner with business leaders to drive digital transformation through automation, AI, and modern platforms.
- Identify, evaluate and integrate emerging technologies through a structured process that strengthens service quality and competitive differentiation.
- Ensure the right technology infrastructure, security controls, and risk management practices are in place to support scalable AI adoption.
- Ensure all technology solutions align with global security, infrastructure, architecture, identity, data protection, cloud, network, endpoint, monitoring, and operational support standards.
- Collaborate with global technology leadership to apply common platforms, approved technology patterns, secure design principles, and operational support models.
- Provide direction, oversight and accountability for the maintenance of cybersecurity safeguards and IT General Controls.
- Develop and manage IT budgets, ensuring disciplined financial stewardship and strong return on technology investments.
- Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, software licensing optimization, contract governance, and strategic technology partnerships.
- Establish and oversee IT service management agreements that ensure consistent delivery and performance of services.
- Build trust and alignment across the organization through clear communication and strong relationships.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, ensuring clear understanding and alignment across the organization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
- Oversee recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning for IT talent.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, including 3+ years at a senior or executive level.
- Extensive experience in IT leadership roles, with a strong emphasis on application development, application lifecycle management, technology portfolio governance, and enterprise project delivery.
- Experience in processes and controls that are typical of public companies and professional services providers.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution of transformative IT projects that achieve business goals.
- Experience supporting technology modernization, platform consolidation, and portfolio rationalization initiatives.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse IT team.
- Experience leading teams using agile, product-led, IT service management, and project delivery methodologies.
- Excellent enterprise project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with key players and stakeholders across the organization.
- Ability to develop and implement a strategic vision for IT that incorporates applications and AI to drive business success.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
