About the Role
SANY’s Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School is seeking dynamic and creative High School Teachers for a Long Term Substitute Teacher for Earth and Space Subject for the 2026/27 Academic Year. We offer a supportive environment for both new and experienced educators.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging lesson plans that conform to the charter's curriculum
- Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirements for instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Prepare students for standardized tests relevant to the content area
- Utilize analytics and data to drive instruction and promote learning
- Accept regular feedback and accountability
- Maintain excellent classroom management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred
- New York State Certification Required
- Fingerprint clearance through the NYS Department of Education
- Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting is a plus
- Prior teaching experience preferred, and novice teachers are encouraged to apply
- Possess a growth mindset, be flexible, and adaptable to change
- Be intrinsically motivated, compassionate, and believe all students can succeed
- Ability to take feedback well and implement it immediately
- Comfortable with the use of data and analytics to drive instruction and promote learning
