About the Role

SANY’s Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School is seeking dynamic and creative High School Teachers for a Long Term Substitute Teacher for Earth and Space Subject for the 2026/27 Academic Year. We offer a supportive environment for both new and experienced educators.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging lesson plans that conform to the charter's curriculum
• Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirements for instructional goals, objectives, and methods
• Prepare students for standardized tests relevant to the content area
• Utilize analytics and data to drive instruction and promote learning
• Accept regular feedback and accountability
• Maintain excellent classroom management

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred
• New York State Certification Required
• Fingerprint clearance through the NYS Department of Education
• Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting is a plus
• Prior teaching experience preferred, and novice teachers are encouraged to apply
• Possess a growth mindset, be flexible, and adaptable to change
• Be intrinsically motivated, compassionate, and believe all students can succeed
• Ability to take feedback well and implement it immediately
• Comfortable with the use of data and analytics to drive instruction and promote learning
