About the Role

The Assurance Experienced Senior, Third Party Attestation will be responsible for the preparation of third-party attestation reports, including SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, SOC for Cybersecurity and WebTrust for CAs, as well as HITRUST, SSPA, ISO, MRC and CSA STAR. This role involves documenting, validating, testing, and assessing various control systems, including internal controls, with a specialization in technology risk.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge and understanding of the collective effect of various factors on establishing or enhancing effectiveness, or mitigating the risks, of specific policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and considers all applicable policies, laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Makes constructive suggestions to improve client internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Documents and validates the operating effectiveness of clients’ internal control systems.
  • Supervises and reviews the work of staff.
  • Documents business and IT processes and controls and tests key controls for service organizations.
  • Identifies and prioritizes key risks, and assesses their impact and likeliness of occurrence.
  • Communicates to the client areas to improve processes, strengthen controls, mitigate risks, and/or increase efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with client personnel and management.
  • Ensures technology is appropriately integrated into the examination process.
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of professional standards and their application.
  • Develops and applies an intermediate knowledge of auditing theory, audit skepticism, and the use of BDO audit manuals.
  • Applies auditing theory to various client situations.
  • Documents working papers and attestation reports in line with BDO policy.
  • Identifies deviations and notifies more senior team members for appropriate approvals.
  • Applies knowledge to identify instances where testing may be reduced or expanded.
  • Contributes ideas and opinions to the engagement team.
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of governing principles to client transactions.
  • Plans and executes attestation examinations.
  • Reads and reviews clients’ reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares required communications to the Client and the Audit Committee.
  • Recognizes and applies new pronouncements to client situations.
  • Identifies, analyzes and discusses alternative principles with management and the client.
  • Identifies complex issues and brings them to the attention of superiors for resolution.
  • Coaches less experienced team members in new areas.
  • Applies knowledge and application of BDO standards to guide service delivery.
  • Completes all appropriate documentation of BDO work papers.
  • Ensures assigned work is performed in accordance with BDO methodology and requirements.
  • Researches basic and intermediate accounting topics and forms an initial opinion on treatment independently.
  • Coordinates timing of planning, fieldwork, and review with audit team and client.
  • Assists engagement executives in developing the audit engagement budget and identifying appropriate resources.
  • Develops draft audit engagement planning documents, audit programs and budgets.
  • Establishes responsibilities of individual audit staff for specific areas of audit work.
  • Monitors and reports engagement budget to actual and advises engagement executives of possible overruns.
  • Provides verbal and written performance feedback to Associates.
  • Supervises the work assignments of Associates.
  • Teaches/coaches associates to provide on-the-job learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Managerial Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Finance or Economics, required.
  • More than three (3) years of prior experience in IT, internal or external audit, required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required.
  • Basic understanding and experience planning and coordinating the stages to perform technology-focused audits and assessments.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and professional standards and regulations (SOC, ISO, WebTrust, HITRUST, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.).
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently and within a group environment.
  • Solid analytical and diagnostic skills and ability to break down complex issues and implementing appropriate resolutions.
  • Capable of working in a demanding, deadline driven environment with a focus on details and accuracy.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.

Salary/Compensations

  • California Range: $87,000 - $130,000
  • Illinois Range: $80,000 - $109,000
  • Minnesota Range: $85,000 - $100,000
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $90,000 - $115,000
