About the Role

Provides Engineering expertise for assigned projects in machine design, plant and facility design/construction, equipment installation, quality improvements, and safety. Offers extensive Engineering support for Maintenance and Production functions, assisting the Plant Engineer with planning and coordinating departmental activities. This role requires a hands-on approach with in-depth knowledge of Electrical or Mechanical engineering principles and trade practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide 'nuts and bolts' level Engineering/Design for daily maintenance and improvement projects.
• Engage hands-on in projects including fabrication, assembly, and installation of apparatus and machinery.
• Understand equipment functionality to assess production needs and improvement possibilities.
• Manage projects, both actual, functional, and financial.
• Provide training for operators, supervisors, managers, and maintenance personnel on machine operation, troubleshooting, and safety.
• Identify repetitive problems through involvement with maintenance personnel and propose resolutions.
• Understand and assist in implementing administrative systems within the Engineering/Maintenance Department.
• Create and/or assist in the creation of manuals.
• Generate project documentation, including drawings, schematics, layouts, and flowcharts.
• Adhere to all company safety guidelines.
• Attend and participate in all company-mandated meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university.
• Three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
