About the Role
The Manager, AML FIU is responsible for implementing Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing compliance policies and procedures. This role oversees daily operations including transaction monitoring, name-screening, reporting suspicious transactions, managing outsourced activities, and handling escalations within the Bank's AML Program.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the Bank’s AML/ATF program for compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance on adjudicating alerts from transaction monitoring and name-screening.
- Manage the escalation process, including quality reviews and recommendations for customer relationships.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Job Aids for AML operational activities.
- Develop and maintain a Performance Management Framework for investigators.
- Manage relationships with outsourced partners, monitoring quality and conducting risk assessments.
- Support the Regulatory Governance framework by reviewing legislation and recommending process amendments.
- Keep CAMLO and the AML team informed of issues, delays, and concerns.
- Participate in new product and technology implementation initiatives.
- Directly manage the performance, development, and training of AML FIU analysts.
- Collaborate with the AML team on initiatives and shifting priorities.
- Perform additional accountabilities as required.
Requirements
- Minimum undergraduate degree, preferably in Business, Commerce or equivalent.
- Five to seven years of AML/ATF experience at a Canadian Financial Institution.
- CAMS certified (preferred) or enrolled to be completed within 6 months.
- Canadian compliance (AML/ATF) background with a working understanding of PCMLTFR FINTRAC Guidelines.
- Experience in investigations, name-screening, high-risk customer management, and Enhanced Due Diligence processes in a Canadian Banking Institution.
- Experience in quality reviews of AML alerts/cases.
- Understanding of Financial Services; experience with credit cards is an asset.
- Previous people-managing experience is required.
- Previous experience working with outsourced partners or vendor management is an asset.
- Ability to interpret legislation and regulatory changes and assist business partners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster and develop relationships internally and externally.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- PC skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and internet navigation.
- Experience with various name-screening/transaction monitoring/core banking systems is an asset.
- Motivation and willingness to learn new computer programs/applications.
- Strong organization skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in an agile environment, pivot and prioritize work.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check and credit check.
