About the Role
Dart's Scarborough manufacturing facility is adding an Inspector to perform inspections, conduct testing, and help ensure products consistently meet specifications and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Inspect products and materials throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and customer requirements.
- Follow all safety policies, GMP requirements, food safety standards, and quality procedures.
- Inspect finished products, including cups and lids, using both visual inspections and testing equipment.
- Perform quality checks using rim diameter gauges, cup height measurements, stack height measurements, force gauges, gram scales, leak tests, and tear tests.
- Inspect work-in-process paper and foam materials for print quality, color consistency, and registration accuracy.
- Perform foam quality checks using caliper gauges, force gauges, Vernier measuring tools, tape measures, gram scales, smoothness testers, and visual inspections.
- Record inspection results accurately within the computerized GainSeeker data collection system.
- Conduct packaging audits to ensure packaging specifications are met, including counts, labels, and corrugate requirements.
- Initiate product holds when quality concerns are identified and assist in investigations of non-conforming product.
- Work closely with Production teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Communicate quality concerns and product status to supervisors and management through verbal communication, documentation, and non-conformance reports.
- Support product recall activities and other quality-related initiatives as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Ability to identify product defects and determine appropriate corrective actions.

- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good computer skills and experience maintaining accurate documentation and records.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, climbing, and moving materials using a pump truck.
- Ability to accurately distinguish colors and identify quality variations in finished products and materials.
- Union membership is mandatory upon successful completion of the probationary period.
