About the Role

The HITT Futures Program offers an immersive, on-site experience for college graduates, Veterans, and passionate individuals to build a future in construction management. This one-year development program provides tailored training, mentorship, and hands-on learning with a fast track to promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to being fully onsite for the duration of the 12-month training program to gain hands-on experience with day-to-day operations.
  • Demonstrate understanding of training topics and participate in performance reviews to ensure knowledge retention and development goals.
  • Follow all directions, task assignments, and coaching from the Futures Program Sponsor.
  • Showcase professional skills including clear communication, organization, integrity, continuous improvement, adaptability, collaboration, and conscientiousness.
  • Master job-specific and technical skills to be promoted to assistant superintendent or assistant project manager.
  • Set up and maintain jobsite office and records.
  • Update as-built drawings as directed and interpret basic coordination drawings.
  • Direct installation of building and site protection and identify safety requirements.
  • Assist in specific construction tasks as directed.
  • Participate in site inspections to ensure quality and workmanship.
  • Make periodic updates to the project schedule as directed.
  • Complete basic material take-offs, place supplier orders, and receive material deliveries.
  • Assist the superintendent in the use of survey and layout instruments.
  • Interpret basic tests and reports.
  • Set up and run a subcontractor foremen’s meeting when directed.
  • Understand cost implications of construction tasks.
  • Assist Project Managers with logistical tasks, including budgeting and client management.
  • Assist in the implementation of HITT’s Corporate Safety Program.
  • Commute to a jobsite within a 30–40-mile radius of the assigned office location.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Military experience or an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience on commercial job sites is strongly preferred.
  • Passion for the construction industry and on-site work.
  • Ability to learn sector- and project-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office 365, ProCore, Adobe Suite, BlueBeam, and JD Edwards.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
