About the Role
Seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Substitute Preschool–Middle School Teacher to ensure the smooth continuation of classroom learning during teacher absences by adhering to provided lesson plans and classroom management techniques.
Responsibilities
- Cover classrooms as needed in accordance with Paragon Prep’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Follow the lesson plans left by the regular teacher and ensure the normal flow of classroom activities.
- Oversee classroom discipline, fostering a positive and non-punitive learning environment.
- Ensure the classroom is orderly, clean, and well-organized during your coverage.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that meet the needs of the class (if serving as a long-term substitute).
- Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, and interest in the subject matter and the teaching role.
- Maintain professionalism and positive communication with students, parents, and staff.
- Arrive punctually, adhere to daily schedules, and perform tasks with integrity and reliability.
- Treat all students with dignity and respect, demonstrating patience and self-control.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Requirements
- Must be detail-oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Prior work experience in an elementary or middle school classroom setting is preferred.
- Frequently walk, stand, sit, squat, stoop, reach, kneel, rise from the floor, twist, listen, read, write, and speak the English language.
- Often carry, lift, use repetitive or fine hand movements, and occasionally push, pull, or bend.
- Regularly hear and use clear vision with or without correction.
