About the Role

As a Line Cook at Murray’s Cheese, you will prepare and cook diverse, cheese-centric menu items, ensuring high standards of execution, food safety, and cleanliness. This role offers growth opportunities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to order, adhering to recipes and quality standards.
• Plate dishes with appropriate garnishes and presentation.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment (ovens, mixers, fryers, etc.).
• Adhere to NYC Department of Health food safety policies and maintain a clean work area.
• Follow proper storage and handling procedures for all food items.
• Keep inventory levels in check and manage ingredient usage efficiently.
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicate effectively with the team to coordinate orders and troubleshoot challenges.
• Perform other duties as required to support the team and store operations.
• Keep stations organized, stocked, and ready for service.
• Manage time effectively to complete duties within established time frames.

Requirements

• Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, opening, closing, and mid-day shifts.
• At least 2 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, or recent culinary school graduate.
• Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
• A passion for food, with a special interest in cheese, and a desire to learn and grow.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable with tasks requiring bending, twisting, reaching, and carrying.
• Operate equipment such as knives, scales, slicers, and food handling in a safe and efficient manner.
