About the Role
Western International College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Instructor to deliver the Integrated Learning Skills Course for international students. This course prepares students for success in a Canadian university environment by equipping them with essential learning and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inclusive instruction in University Life Skills, Sexual Health, Wellness, and Intercultural Communication modules.
- Facilitate student learning through various activities, discussions, group work, and experiential assignments.
- Support students’ transition to post-secondary education by modeling effective academic strategies and inclusive community-building.
- Integrate equity-informed, trauma-aware, and culturally responsive teaching approaches.
- Provide timely feedback and assessment of student work.
- Collaborate with academic and student support teams to ensure alignment with program goals and learner needs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social sciences, Humanities, or a related field.
- Certificate in Sexuality Studies, Sexual Health, or Sex Education (or commitment to obtain).
- Minimum of 5 years of post-secondary teaching experience, with a focus on international or newcomer student populations.
- Deep understanding of intercultural communication and equity-informed teaching practices.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting student wellness and academic skill-building.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience in university or college pathway programming (preferred).
- Familiarity with the Canadian post-secondary system and student transition challenges (preferred).
- Successful applicants will be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks, including a criminal background check and professional reference checks.
