About the Role

The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling facility, landfill or transfer station for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, loading and/or compacting waste or soil in an efficient and safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment, ensuring windows, lights, mirrors, and rear-view camera are clean.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader, and others using proper safety standards.
• Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Continuously monitor equipment condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment, referring complex mechanical issues to the Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary documentation; report required repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure the shop is clean, serviced, and stored at the completion of each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
