About the Role

The Development and Donor Engagement Manager plays a key role in managing annual fund campaigns, donor stewardship, and events within the Development Department. This position offers an opportunity to help drive meaningful growth on JVS’s fundraising success, deepen donor engagement and strengthen operational excellence as a key member of a high-performing fundraising team. The position also manages the Development and Donor Database Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and evaluate the organization’s annual fundraising campaigns.
  • Identify trends in giving patterns to inform direct mail solicitations and adapt annual fund strategies.
  • Design and implement database tracking systems in Salesforce.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of audience tracking and list management systems.
  • Ensure the development and upkeep of portfolios and management of portfolio tasks for frontline fundraisers.
  • Manage pipeline of new donors and ensure timely stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop an annual calendar, online giving strategy, and high-impact marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to support strategy, planning, and execution of program alumni engagement and campaigns.
  • Oversee donor acknowledgement process and donor recognition.
  • Create and implement a dynamic stewardship calendar with a variety of written materials and special communications.
  • Support front-end fundraising portfolio managers with research, cultivation, outreach, and tracking of tasks.
  • Assess and design stewardship plan annually.
  • Oversee project management of all activities in Salesforce.
  • Write customized acknowledgement letters for all donors.
  • Lead the development and coordination of other donor stewardship and cultivation activities.
  • Respond to donor and staff inquiries.
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality with regards to donor matters.
  • Plan and execute all logistical aspects of JVS’s premier annual major fundraising event, Envision, as well as small events throughout the year.
  • Support development activities to steward donors to attend special events.
  • Support event project management activities.
  • Attend committee meetings as needed.
  • Lead writer to design donor communications: email, direct mail, acknowledgement letters, thank you cards, special event materials.
  • Contribute to design of annual appeal solicitation.
  • Design scripts for ongoing stewardship calls and emails.
  • Manage relationship with printing partner to coordinate orders.
  • Support development department budget by tracking expenditures.
  • Answer donor inquiries.
  • Review and support development revenue tracking.
  • Manage giving inbox.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development operations, or a related role requiring donor communications and stewardship, CRM/data management, campaign coordination, and strong project management skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Consistently respectful, dependable and reliable; inspires trust.
  • Self-starter with strong independent judgment, discretion and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, and to stay focused under pressure.

  • Excellent communications skills, including the ability to write and edit polished communications for board, donors and volunteers.

  • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional partners and incorporates feedback to strengthen communications and achieve shared goals.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and software platforms.
  • Able to troubleshoot issues and suggest improvements.
  • Strong data management experience (preferably Salesforce).
  • Experience managing a large portfolio of donors (preferably in Salesforce).
  • Experience with direct mail campaigns, donor relations and/or event planning.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Salesforce NPSP or similar CRM database including but not limited to: modeling, running reports, data analyzation, designing dashboards, tracking, oversight, and support of tasks for front line fundraisers.
  • 1-2 years of supervision experience.
  • Experience in moves management of a large portfolio of donors.
