About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to be the technical face of Minerva Frontline, engaging with internal hardware teams, pilot customers, and program partners. You will introduce Frontline into new projects, manage technical integration, and build trust through technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission Minerva Frontline in customer environments.
  • Work with edge hardware, constrained networks, and tactical infrastructure.
  • Integrate new UAV platforms and functionalities into the Frontline platform.
  • Serve as the on-site technical point of contact for complex system issues.
  • Analyze and resolve issues including swarm telemetry failures, gRPC connectivity problems, and MAVLink command translation errors.
  • Perform real-time error diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Translate feedback from operators, pilots, and customers into concrete technical requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to implement improvements, bug fixes, and platform integrations.
  • Participate in flight tests and trials.
  • Ensure software commands are reliably and accurately translated into physical drone actions under real-world conditions.
  • Develop custom tools such as scripts, diagnostic tools, and integration/test environments to ensure reproducible, efficient, and robust deployments.
  • Work directly with hardware engineers, drone platforms, and test equipment.
  • Regularly deploy to customer sites and test ranges as part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++17/20/23).
  • Experience in reading, debugging, and adapting production C++ codebases.
  • Experience building and operating complex distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with real-time capable distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with gRPC.
  • Hands-on experience with Flatbuffers.
  • Hands-on experience with WebSockets.
  • Hands-on experience with MAVLink / MAVSDK.
  • Demonstrated experience introducing and operating software solutions with external customers.
  • Experience collaborating with hardware teams during flight tests and platform integrations.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Germany (up to 40%).
  • Must meet the requirements for a security clearance.
