About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, Mission Autonomy, you will build the intelligence behind real UAV swarming, designing and implementing the swarm decision-making layer at the heart of Minerva Frontline. This involves creating optimization and planning algorithms that translate operator objectives and battlefield conditions into coordinated, multi-vehicle strike missions, with dynamic replanning capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement task allocation engines (auction-based allocation, Hungarian method, constraint satisfaction) for optimal vehicle-target assignment in high-threat environments.
- Develop real-time, deterministic algorithms for mid-flight swarm adaptation, re-evaluating the battlefield and pushing new coordinates instantly.
- Build the high-level planning architecture that decomposes abstract operator objectives into specific vehicle assignments.
- Own the Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) environment for testing swarm behaviors with virtual vehicles.
- Deploy validated code onto live aircraft during field trials.
Requirements
- Production-grade modern C++ proficiency, with a focus on latency, memory efficiency, and deterministic reliability.
- 5+ years of experience in autonomy/robotics, with a proven track record of shipping complex motion planning, routing, or distributed coordination algorithms.
- Deep expertise in combinatorial optimization, graph theory, and multi-agent coordination.
- Strong systems-level thinking, understanding interfaces with gRPC services, telemetry feeds, state management, and user interfaces.
- High agency and a field mentality, with the ability to define problems mathematically, build solutions, and participate in live flight trials.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for defence sector work.
