About the Role
Chariot is revolutionizing the philanthropic financial system by building tools that activate more philanthropic dollars and transform nonprofit operations. We are seeking top talent to join our mission-driven team in changing the financial landscape of philanthropy. This role is essential for mitigating risk as we enter an exciting phase of growth, moving hundreds of millions of dollars per month and expanding our product capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Own Chariot's risk surface end to end: technological, security/infra, fraud, and product risk.
- Build and maintain a living catalog of Chariot's risk exposure.
- Partner closely with engineering to pressure-test core payment flows, identify failure points, and determine mitigation strategies.
- Understand product and technology to proactively identify and address risks.
- Stand up a proactive monitoring and mitigation cadence across the risk surface.
- Apply first-principles, systems-level thinking to identify, prioritize, and close risk gaps.
- Build on and formalize existing interim risk and compliance coverage.
- Sit at the leadership table, briefing leadership on top business risks and mitigation plans.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure new features account for risk without slowing velocity.
Requirements
- 5+ years in risk, fraud, trust & safety, or a related operating role, ideally at a fintech, payments, or marketplace company.
- First-principles and systems thinker with genuine technical and product depth.
- Detail oriented with excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Proactive with strong people skills and ability to influence internal and Engineering/Product stakeholders.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-moving, cross-functional team environment.
- Team player with an ownership mindset and an eagerness to take on more work.
- Relentlessly curious about product and technology, with a proactive instinct to map out potential issues.
