About the Role
Assist in the organization, development, and leadership of a competitive NCAA Division III Crew program, supporting Union College's mission and values. The program is part of the Liberty League.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate effective teaching methods and leadership in coaching.
- Collaborate with the athletics trainer to ensure participant health and safety.
- Assist in recruiting and retaining prospective student-athletes aligned with Union College's mission.
- Coordinate on-campus visits for prospective student-athletes and families with the head coach and admissions.
- Ensure compliance with all recruitment policies and procedures.
- Assist with aspects of the Crew program as designated by the head coach, adhering to NCAA, league, and department compliance.
- Help organize recruiting, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Assist with invoices, spring break planning, and gear orders.
- Ensure the academic success of student-athletes by collaborating with college stakeholders.
- Mentor student-athletes.
Requirements
- Ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).
- Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three years of coaching and/or rowing experience at the collegiate level.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Must possess or obtain a valid New York State driver’s license.
- Thorough understanding of NCAA rules, policies, and procedures.
- A coaching philosophy compatible with a multi-classified liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
