About the Role

The Assurance Manager is a core member of the Credit Assurance function, acting as Triple Point Lending's second line of defence. This role delivers independent, risk-focused reviews of Relationship Management's oversight of borrower relationships across the credit lifecycle, from drawdown through to repayment or exit. The role utilizes AI tools to support review delivery and identify opportunities for AI-enabled working within the Credit Assurance function.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute credit file reviews across the Private Credit book, assessing borrower relationships across six dimensions: Asset Quality; Credit Administration & Management; Covenant Monitoring & Breach Management; Problem Debt Management; Monitoring, Reporting & Governance; and Data Completeness & Accuracy.
  • Conduct thematic reviews on specific credit risk processes across a risk-based sample of the portfolio.
  • Carry out spot-checks between full file reviews, including new business covenant reviews ahead of the first covenant test.
  • Execute triggered reviews in response to material credit events, whistleblowing concerns, or requests from senior stakeholders or Credit Committee.
  • Use sanctioned AI tools to support review delivery, developing a scalable, automated process for information synthesis, report preparation, and pattern recognition.
  • Apply the RAYG rating methodology consistently across review dimensions, forming overall ratings based on the materiality of findings.
  • Prepare evidence-based review reports, distinguishing factual findings from matters of judgement.
  • Escalate Amber and Red rated findings promptly ahead of final report issuance.
  • Maintain the live Credit Assurance recommendation tracker, reporting progress to Credit Forum and Investment Committee quarterly.
  • Prepare periodic assurance outputs, including quarterly thematic summaries and the annual portfolio review report.
  • Engage constructively with Relationship Managers during factual accuracy review, ensuring findings are well-supported while maintaining productive first-line relationships.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on credit risk standards, providing guidance and challenge that supports continuous improvement.
  • Support the Audit Director in the annual review of the Credit Assurance Framework and methodology.
  • Identify systemic issues or portfolio-wide trends through the review programme, raising these through governance channels.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable proficiency with AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or equivalent sanctioned tools) in a professional setting, using them to analyse information, draft outputs and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Experience preparing professional written outputs (reports, analysis, presentations) for senior audiences in a financial services, professional services or regulated environment.
  • Experience assessing complex information and forming independent, well-evidenced judgements.
  • Experience in a credit risk, portfolio monitoring, internal audit or second-line assurance role within a lending organisation (private credit, non-bank lending or commercial banking) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the credit lifecycle and second-line assurance methodologies.
  • Experience with credit management systems or data/portfolio monitoring tools is desirable.
  • Exposure to multiple lending products is desirable.
  • Prior experience introducing technology or process improvements within a risk or assurance function is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and structured thinker, with sound independent judgement.
  • Confident challenging first-line teams constructively, while maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Clear communicator, able to calibrate tone and detail for different audiences.
  • Comfortable working independently and prioritising across competing demands.
  • Curious, professional, and committed to continuous improvement.
