About the Role

CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Engineering Inspector for a future US Government project in Japan. This role involves overseeing the inspection of large construction projects, ensuring adherence to contract documents, specifications, US military standards, codes, and safety regulations. The position requires effective communication with diverse professionals and elevating inspection concerns to project management.

Responsibilities

Coordinate inspection activities and perform on-site surveillance and inspection of the construction work in progress.
Ascertain that the work is properly executed and completed in conformance with the contract drawings and specification.
Coordinate with and provide project updates to the CDM Smith project manager and/or onsite manager, client points of contact for the project’s period of construction.
Oversee on-site surveillance and inspection of the construction work in progress.
Apply the knowledge of engineering laws, codes and principles.
Inspect construction to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
Monitor progress and prepare/create/compile inspection reports and/or project status reports.
Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc. and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
Develop, train, and educate junior inspectors.
Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen.
Able to pass a federal background check.
Demonstrates technical proficiency and design application knowledge.
Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
Excellent attention to detail.
Familiar and comfortable to work on computers/tablets/phones.
Strong writing and oral communication skills.
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
