About the Role

The Infrastructure & Project Finance practice provides credit analysis on essential, long-lived assets and ring-fenced project financings. The North American Regulated Utilities team covers a portfolio of Investor-Owned Utility companies. Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance/coaching to Research Assistants and Rating Analysts, building capability in credit, data discipline, and tooling.
  • Drive consistency/scalability by codifying standard work and promoting disciplined adoption.
  • Strengthen AI-enabled productivity by creating reusable assets and proposing lightweight automations.
  • Foster continuous improvement by proposing enhancements that remove manual steps.
  • Partner with senior team members and Data/Engineering to identify and scale AI/automation use cases.
  • Lead end-to-end execution for assigned credits, ensuring high-quality analysis and timely delivery.
  • Own surveillance/updates for assigned portfolio, synthesizing performance, market signals, and peer context.
  • Support LLM tools/automation being embedded to accelerate workflows, followed by structured validation and refinement.
  • Operate alongside AI agents in recurring workflows.
  • Prepare/review inputs, reconcile metrics, document assumptions/changes to ensure adherence to methodologies/standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare/review key outputs ensuring clarity and alignment to methodology/sector frameworks.
  • Support maintenance/review of models to ensure robustness and repeatability.
  • Engage with external parties alongside senior team members.
  • Craft client and executive-ready stories that translate complex data, analysis, and research into a clear narrative.
  • Building trusted stakeholder relationships through emotionally intelligent, collaborative and adaptable delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to methodology/confidentiality/data governance; escalate issues early.
  • Embed responsible, governed AI use: approved tools/data only; protect confidential info.
  • Drive controlled automation/agentic workflows by contributing to design requirements/controls, supporting testing/rollout, and training others.
  • Supports decisions relating to guardrails for automation: defining what can be automated vs must remain human-led.

Requirements

  • Energy or infrastructure background with an understanding of credit analysis gained in transactional, analytical, or credit roles.
  • Willingness to rapidly pivot into different sectors to meet client needs and analytical needs across the practice.
  • Ownership/execution maturity across multiple credits; delivers high quality with limited oversight and models values-led behavior.
  • Strong collaboration/relationship management; influences through credibility and constructive challenge.
  • Coaching capability that improves team consistency through shared standards and tools.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • AI fluency with judgement.
  • Strong credit/financial/risk analysis linking drivers to forward-looking views and risk appetite.
  • Practical experience embedding AI/LLMs/agents into workflows to improve productivity and insight.
  • Strong analytical tool capability; willingness to learn data/automation tools to facilitate AI-enabled workflows.
  • Strong synthesis into concise narratives for senior stakeholders/committees with transparent evidence.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, able to present research and analysis in a clear, structured way.
  • High standards for quality, traceability, and governance; operates effectively in controlled environments.
  • Sound judgement on responsible AI use.
  • Ability to contribute to scalable automation/agent workflows.
  • Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
  • Candidates who reach the final stage of the interview process will be asked to attend at least one in-person interview at their nearest S&P Global Ratings office before an offer can be extended.

Salary/Compensations

  • $112,000 USD to $153,000 USD (US Candidates)
  • 94,000 CAD to 133,000 CAD (Canadian Candidates)
