About the Role
The Arcfield Cross-Domain Solutions Group is seeking a mid-level software engineer to join a Research and Development Team devoted to enhancing an industry-leading cross-domain guarding solution. This solution is deployed at government and military installations worldwide, facilitating secure data sharing across security domains while ensuring data integrity and guarding against unauthorized access and cyber-attacks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research for and development of a moderately complex software code base comprising the cross-domain solution and feature-enhancing components.
- Analyze and prototype new features to address security and enterprise requirements.
- Contribute to baseline development.
- Collaborate with other team members, a production team using Scrum, and field engineers to achieve team goals.
- Bring experience and skills that enrich the other members of the Research and Development Team.
- Conduct research in design, development, testing, and utilization of electronic data processing software.
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensure software standards are met.
- Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
- Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
- Design, develop, and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
- Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 5-7 yrs. of experience, or a Master's and 3-5 yrs. of experience or a PhD with 0-2 years of experience
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
- Developing solutions with languages and technologies such as Java, C++/C, Python, Venom, Go, Linux containers, Kubernetes and Helm Charts
- Design and implementation using object-oriented principles and patterns
- Participation in multiple simultaneous efforts
- Familiar with the full software engineering lifecycle
- Capable of capturing and documenting software design and functionality
- A Secret clearance
- Practitioner of Scrum using Test-driven Development
- Building solutions using virtual machines, cloud environments, repositories, databases, specialized hardware and collaborative or federated technologies
- Developing video or data streaming applications
- Familiar with securing an operating system
- Developing or using cross-domain guard technology
- Public-key cryptography
- Developing applications for Microsoft Windows
