About the Role

This role involves undertaking criminal defence and professional regulatory/disciplinary work within a busy litigation boutique. The department exclusively serves professionals and high-net-worth individuals on a privately funded basis.

Responsibilities

• Undertake criminal defence and professional regulatory/disciplinary work.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the department.
• Run own caseload independently and progress matters with limited/strategic supervision.
• Achieve settlements/outcomes above client and/or supervisor expectations.
• Think creatively about cases and prospective resolutions.
• Supervise others, both formally and informally, as a leader and role model.
• Engage in marketing and business development opportunities.
• Develop own profile both during and outside of working hours.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in criminal litigation.
• Demonstrable and recent experience of working in private practice.
• Ability to communicate naturally and advise people from diverse backgrounds.
• Achievement at a leading firm or specialist boutique firm with a privately funded caseload.
• Name recognition within the industry and receive regular personal referrals and/or repeat client work.
• Genuine enthusiasm for the commercial side of legal practice.
• Motivated by client base growth, conversion of enquiries, and pragmatic client dealings.
• Commercial understanding of private criminal practice, financial performance, and ability to meet targets.
• Excellent IT skills, including advanced Microsoft Office features.
• Prior use of case management systems.
• Shared ethos of offering the highest level of service to clients.
• Adherence to the highest professional standards.
