About the Role

The Director will be a key member of the community engagement and impact team, creating a roadmap for program quality initiatives and compliance for public and private funding. This role supports division-wide grants compliance, focusing on large public funding and multi-Corps opportunities with sustainability strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for contract and regulatory compliance and adherence to Salvation Army standards.
  • Assist with social services reviews, program audits, and licensing audits across the division.
  • Collaborate on the submission of documents and reports through the contract database for legal review.
  • Assist in developing outcome measurements, objectives, and program impact to meet funding resources and quality assurance goals.
  • Manage data training for staff, data mining, collection, and reporting within data management systems.
  • Work with Development, Social Services, Finance, HR, and individual corps to prepare and submit required reports to funders.
  • Act as the lead with the DHQ finance department to ensure award agreements are executed for programming and accounting.
  • Assist in developing and managing a division-wide system for research, recording, tracking, and reporting to increase funding resources and grant compliance.
  • Collaborate with social service departments and Corps leadership to develop and execute program service models tied to funding sources.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local public funding websites for RFP announcements.
  • Coordinate with DHQ Development on large foundation grant applications.
  • Prepare internal and external communications, including presentations, reports, and business correspondence related to grant/contract compliance.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with five years of experience in program development, grant writing, corporate relations, and/or development.
  • Prior experience working in workforce development/employment training.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a complex environment, managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience with community-based program planning and implementation in workforce development and working with populations impacted by concentrated poverty.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning, project management, and communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of best practices in programs and services, community engagement, communications, and volunteer programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with targeted systems and organizations, including diverse community leaders and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability with outcome-driven project management.
  • Commitment to advocacy, diversity, and serving the community.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel, and experience with database software is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license meeting The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
  • A strong commitment to understand The Army’s history, mission, structure, services, policies, and procedures.
