About the Role
As our Corporate Health & Safety Advisor, you’ll lead on safety standards across Kensington and Chelsea, playing a pivotal role in protecting the workforce and local communities. This is a chance to take hands-on ownership, share expert guidance, and ensure services operate safely, competently, and responsibly.
Responsibilities
- Providing independent advice and leadership across multiple council directorates.
- Working closely with senior leaders, managers, and operational teams to champion the health and safety strategy.
- Developing practical initiatives that raise standards across every service.
- Leading comprehensive audits, assurance programmes, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with statutory legislation and internal policies.
- Lending technical expertise to major projects, construction works, and procurement, ensuring full compliance with CDM Regulations 2015.
- Leading thorough investigations when incidents happen to establish root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Offering clear advice on regulatory compliance and corporate manslaughter legislation.
- Building safety capability across the organisation through coaching, mentoring, and engagement with external enforcement bodies like the HSE.
- Interpreting performance data to guide continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Substantial experience delivering occupational health and safety advice within a large, multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Deep understanding of safety management systems, auditing, and statutory compliance standards like asbestos, water hygiene, fire safety, and contractor management.
- Clear, confident communication skills to translate complex legal and technical requirements into practical guidance.
- Excellent influencing, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Proactive, collaborative approach.
- Confidence to constructively challenge practices to deliver solutions that keep people safe.

Salary/Compensations
- New hires will start at the minimum of the advertised salary range.
