About the Role

Provide support to the Financial Accountant and Syndicate Finance Operations team to ensure efficient, controlled, and timely monthly and quarterly reporting. This role involves controlling and reconciling the Oracle ledger and assisting with daily workflow processes, focusing on transactions from Subscribe 2000, underwriting records, cash transactions, and challenging anomalies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain subledgers, ensuring accurate postings and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts during monthly and quarterly ledger close cycles.
  • Assist in performing balance sheet substantiation procedures.
  • Reconcile underwriting figures between Subscribe 2000 and Oracle.
  • Prepare standard accounting journals, such as IPT adjustments and entries to clear and maintain subledgers.
  • Assist in performing analytical reviews to gain insights into financial accounts supporting the reporting period's results.
  • Stay updated with IFRS and UK GAAP accounting requirements for proper transaction recording.
  • Contribute to the documentation of processes, risks, and controls.
  • Contribute to process improvement and system enhancements within the finance function.
  • Participate in ad hoc change and transformation projects.
  • Support the wider UK Operations team in producing deliverables, especially during quarterly reporting.
  • Assist the Settlement Working Group by obtaining reports, arranging meetings, challenging suspected breaches, and maintaining an action log.
  • Coordinate information to assess potential breaches of premium trust rules.

Requirements

  • Working towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Understanding of financial accounting.
  • Demonstrate evidence of interpreting and manipulating data clearly and accurately.
  • Proven track record of working in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Good organizational skills including effective scheduling, prioritization, and time management.
  • Proficiency in financial software (Microsoft Excel, accounting systems, and ERP).
  • Good communication skills to articulate insights.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong controls and reconciliations experience.
  • Understanding of the Lloyd’s Market and Service Companies (Desirable).
  • Experience with using Oracle general ledgers (Desirable).
  • Experience of Subscribe 2000 (Desirable).
  • Experience with or interest in automation of finance processes (Desirable).
