About the Role
The Medical Advisor's primary role is to create a Country Medical Affairs Plan (CMAP) for their assigned disease area and product, and to execute the medical activities outlined in the CMAP in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners. This includes communication and collaboration with global counterparts. The role requires advanced scientific and medical knowledge in the assigned disease area, strong communication skills with various stakeholders, and strategic thinking, execution, and leadership abilities to develop and implement the CMAP.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute a Country Medical Affairs Plan aligned with franchise strategy for the assigned therapeutic area/product.
- Provide ongoing input and feedback to global teams on global medical strategy development and execution.
- Manage MSL scientific insight collection activities in collaboration with the MSL Manager, analyze insights, and apply them to medical activities.
- Plan and lead expert input meetings and other medical programs to incorporate scientific insights from basic researchers and clinical experts into the medical strategy.
- Identify educational unmet needs in the assigned therapeutic area and plan/execute medical education programs aligned with franchise strategy.
- Extract data needs, design, plan, and execute studies and surveys.
- Follow SOPs for investigator-initiated studies.
- Provide medical information collection, analysis, and input for early development pipeline products as needed.
- Provide strategic recommendations on the scientific and medical aspects of development products as needed.
- Design and execute skill development plans for MSL and Medical Information team members in collaboration with the MSL Manager.
- Review promotional materials for the assigned area from a medical and scientific perspective.
- Provide necessary medical and scientific input to internal stakeholders as a subject matter expert in the assigned disease area.
Requirements
- Physician, dentist, pharmacist, veterinarian, or hold a PhD in pharmacy or life sciences (or a Master's degree in a related field with plans to obtain a PhD).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical or research experience in the healthcare field.
- Experience publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals or presenting at academic conferences.
- Experience with domestic pharmaceutical industry regulations, reimbursement systems, and clinical research guidelines.
- Ability to deeply understand scientific data and possess an advanced scientific background.
- Ability to design, plan, and execute studies under the guidance/supervision of an Executive Director.
- Ability to foster collaboration among teams.
- Ability to build peer-to-peer relationships with scientific leaders through scientific expertise.
- Leadership skills to lead teams in the assigned disease area.
- Native level Japanese language proficiency.
- Business-level English proficiency for communication with global teams (equivalent to TOEIC 860 or higher).
