About the Role

Universal Music UK is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join their UK central data, AI and technology team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a new chapter focused on growing and expanding data-driven strategies, innovation, and creative insights across the company. The ideal candidate is passionate about music, data, AI, and technology, with a knack for analyzing and communicating knowledge through data, simplifying complex problems, and translating data into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver analysis, reporting, and measurement to solve business problems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and define analytical questions.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Improve performance measurement, audience understanding, and opportunity identification.
  • Work with large datasets, technical teams, and modern analytics tools.
  • Support artists and labels across the business.
  • Act as a senior voice and lead data strategy at a label level.
  • Support strategic research with data and audience insights.
  • Research and develop data-driven solutions for business problems.
  • Utilize partner data to extract key metrics and provide feedback to label teams.
  • Advise on data-related topics to guide business decisions.
  • Source, clean, and prepare data for modeling, product creation, or visualization.
  • Develop new data sets or features integral to business operations.
  • Contribute to connecting artists with audiences globally.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a data analyst, analytics, or related role.
  • Background engaging stakeholders in a consultative or analytical capacity.
  • Experience leading analysis that informs business decisions and product development.
  • Experience working with engineering, data science, or product teams to develop scalable tools, reporting, or data products.

Skills

  • Strong ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insight.
  • Creative and commercially minded approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead analytical projects from idea through to delivery and adoption.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience querying large datasets accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as BigQuery, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS.
  • Experience building dashboards, reporting products, and self-serve insight tools.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data quality.
  • Working knowledge of Python or another programming language for analysis.
  • Familiarity with Git, version control, and modern analytics workflows.
  • Good understanding of AI, machine learning concepts, and their practical application.
  • Ability to mentor others and raise the quality of analytical work across a team.
  • Knowledge of music repertoire is advantageous.
