About the Role
DP World is seeking an experienced Road Freight Operations Specialist to join our growing Freight Forwarding office in Bucharest, Romania. This role is crucial for managing national groupage and distribution operations within a leading transportation and logistics company that handles over 10% of global trade.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate national groupage, collection, and distribution operations.
- Organize and optimize daily freight flows across hubs, cross-docks, and distribution networks.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of operational data, including addresses, contacts, dimensions, weights, loading metres, and special delivery requirements.
- Consolidate freight to maximize vehicle utilization and optimize transport costs.
- Coordinate daily national collection, distribution, multi-drop, and multi-pickup activities.
- Create and issue transport orders to carriers before transport execution.
- Manage carrier performance and monitor loading, unloading, and delivery deadlines.
- Track shipments through Track & Trace systems and proactively address operational deviations.
- Ensure compliance with agreed transit times and customer service levels.
- Maintain effective communication with customers, carriers, warehouses, and operational partners.
- Analyze vehicle utilization, route efficiency, delivery performance, loading levels, transport costs, and operational visibility.
- Drive network and process improvements, prepare regular operational reports and KPI updates, and support additional business requirements assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years in groupage, national distribution, collection, control tower, domestic transport, or comparable logistics operations.
- Experience limited to FTL transport is an advantage but does not replace groupage and distribution experience.
- Strong knowledge of national groupage, collection, and distribution, including freight consolidation, hub operations, cross-docking, multi-drop deliveries, and multi-pickup collections.
- Good understanding of route planning, vehicle-capacity utilization, chargeable weight, volumetric calculations, transport profitability, and cost structures.
- Good knowledge of PC applications and TMS platforms, with practical experience using Track & Trace systems and monitoring operational KPIs.
- Solid understanding of carrier management, Romanian geography, and key logistics and industrial areas.
- Experience in retail, automotive, FMCG, or industrial distribution is an advantage.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate high volumes of shipments, collections, and deliveries in a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to prioritize effectively, make timely operational decisions, and manage exceptions through rapid corrective action.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service quality.
- A proactive approach to improving operational efficiency, controlling costs, and making effective use of available resources.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with multiple internal departments, carriers, customers, and external operational partners.
